Individual Counseling

Fees starting as low as $15 per session

Our Counseling Philosophy

Sentio Counseling Center is a nonprofit organization offering affordable individual counseling to adults throughout California. With sliding scale therapy fees starting at $15 per session, our mission as a nonprofit is to ensure that high quality mental health care is available to every Californian regardless of financial circumstances. We serve clients in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, San Jose, Sacramento, Oakland, Long Beach, Fresno, Bakersfield, Riverside, and communities across the state.

What sets Sentio apart from other therapy providers in California is our commitment to measurable clinical outcomes. Sentio Counseling Center is the only counseling center in the state that integrates Deliberate Practice and clinical outcome data into its treatment approach. Deliberate Practice is a research backed training methodology in which therapists systematically improve their clinical skills through structured feedback loops, targeted skill building, and ongoing measurement of client progress. This means that every session you attend at Sentio is informed by data about what is actually working for you, not just clinical intuition alone.

Our approach is rooted in our affiliation with Sentio University, a graduate institution in Los Angeles whose Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy program was the first in the country to formally train students in Deliberate Practice. This academic partnership means our counselors have access to cutting edge research, advanced supervision, and the kind of ongoing professional development that most community counseling centers simply cannot provide. Whether you are in Pasadena, Anaheim, Irvine, Santa Barbara, or the San Fernando Valley, you can access our online counseling services from anywhere in California. How We Can Help

Life can be complicated. You might feel like something needs to change and you’ve tried just about everything. Perhaps the advice of family and friends hasn’t worked either, or maybe it seems like the advice was meant for someone else. Maybe you don’t even feel comfortable talking to the people in your life about your problems. There is no single way to navigate life’s challenges, but counseling can help to identify the way that fits right for you. SCC counselors will help you to determine goals for counseling and create new ways to see the changes you want for yourself and your relationships.

Counseling begins with an intake session for you and your counselor to discuss what’s bringing you to SCC and what you hope to get out of sessions. With this information, you and your counselor will work together to determine if you want support that is more calm and curious, challenging and direct, or anywhere in between. SCC counselors most often use an integrative approach that matches your needs with the most helpful questions, perspectives, and tools. Our goal is simple: to help you feel empowered to tackle all that life has to offer in the way that feels right for you.
